Remaining Primm resort set to close; employees given weeks to pack up

Affinity Gaming said the closure will permanently end jobs for all Primm Valley employees and also shut the Primm Center gas station and Flying J truck stop.

  • Affinity Gaming announced on Tuesday the permanent closure of all Primm properties, including Primm Valley Resorts, Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino, and Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino, effective July 4, 2026.
  • Post-Pandemic traffic at the state line has proven insufficient to support three full-time casino properties, Affinity Senior Vice President and General Counsel Erin Barnett wrote, prompting the consolidation strategy.
  • The closures will result in the termination of 344 employees, according to official notices filed Tuesday; workers living in the company-provided Desert Oasis Apartments must vacate by July 6.
  • Clark County officials stated they are working to address impacts on residents and travelers, focusing on maintaining gas station services while Clark County Social Services provide resources to displaced workers.
  • Development of the Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport in the Ivanpah Valley positions the area for potential resurgence, though the project is not expected to open until 2037 at the earliest.
