The Bishop of Angers, Bishop Emmanuel Delmas, decided to return to the recent promotion of a priest, sentenced in 2017 to a prison sentence for holding child pornography images, in order to avoid "adding to the trouble of the faithful".

The priest, now 76 years old, was sentenced in 2017 to two years in prison, including four months in prison for holding child pornography images that he had downloaded from his parish computer.
