Reform Leader in Scotland Had Cancer Diagnosed on Day of Holyrood Election
Offord said surgery removed his prostate and urged men to get checked, calling the diagnosis on election day the weirdest thing.
Reform UK Scotland leader Malcolm Offord revealed he underwent surgery to remove his prostate after receiving a cancer diagnosis on May 7, the day of the Holyrood election.
During an Edinburgh Fringe appearance with comedian Matt Forde, Offord shared the news after the host noticed a hospital wristband on the MSP's arm during their interview.
Following his surgery last Wednesday, the 61-year-old Offord confirmed he is "feeling pretty good" and urged men to get checked, noting prostate cancer is now a "more understood subject."
Setting his sights on majority status at Holyrood, Offord emphasized the need for success in the 2027 local elections and a 2029 Westminster victory for Reform UK.
Figures from Public Health Scotland show prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Scotland, with 6,061 new cases diagnosed in 2024, representing 16.1% of all cancer diagnoses.
