Farage's Reform UK admits failings over donations but denies breaking law
The 27-page report said two senior figures acted carelessly, but found no evidence of an impermissible donation or party-funded polling.
On Wednesday, Reform released a 27-page internal report clearing former senior figures Dan Jukes and James Orr of wrongdoing, concluding they did not breach electoral law when discussing potential foreign donations.
Last month, an undercover investigation by Verbatim Investigations broadcast by Channel 4 News prompted the probe, alleging the aides suggested ways to circumvent electoral law for a £500,000 foreign donation.
The report noted the aides "said things that were wrong, careless and in one instance untrue," yet concluded their conduct "does not excuse" the "foolish" actions, though neither breached the law.
A Reform spokesperson stated the party believes Verbatim Investigations "acted unlawfully" and plans "appropriate legal action in due course," while awaiting the Metropolitan Police investigation before deciding the aides' futures.
The Metropolitan Police continues a separate criminal investigation into Reform regarding foreign funding allegations, while the internal report argued Jukes acted as a "contractor" rather than a party official regarding disputed opinion polls.
