Red, white and smiles all over as Salmon Arm marks Canada’s 159th
Salmon Arm Recreation added bouncy castles, games and live entertainment, while free swimming and a ball hockey challenge drew families to the Canada Day event.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Salmon Arm Recreation transformed the Rogers Rink area into a community playground to celebrate Canada's 159th birthday. The event featured bouncy castles, games, live entertainment, and free swimming at the nearby SASCU Recreation Centre.
Red and white outfits filled the venue as families participated in diverse interactive activities. Salmon Arm firefighter Josh Haaller assisted Larah Zakreet with fire hose target practice, while Aurora Lewin and Sebastian Mars collaborated on a sand pile project.
Creative stations highlighted the celebration with face painting by Christine Turpin and a special banner painting activity. Shuswap Dance Center student Micah Lowe performed a solo dance, while Dagny Drew added color to the scenic Salmon Arm banner.
Visitors from Ontario, including Karen Young and grandson Landon, joined international guests like Prince Fernandez and his father Chester. Jensen Thibert and his mother Veronika explored items at the Salmon Arm Recreation Kids Zone.
Annual traditions like the ball hockey challenge inside the rink continued alongside new additions this year. The reusable Salmon Arm banner, featuring scenic line art for children to paint, provided a lasting community engagement opportunity.
