Augmented Reality Training System Integrated on Apache Attack Helicopter Platform
Red 6’s platform overlays realistic threat scenarios on Boeing's Apache rotorcraft for scalable, safer training and records flight data to measure pilot readiness, officials said.
- Nov. 17, 2025, Red 6 announced successful integration of its ATARS technology onto Boeing's AH-64E Apache CATT in Mesa, Arizona, described as the first AR flight-training on a rotorcraft.
- To address training shortfalls, Red 6 developed ATARS to create virtual outdoor worlds delivering threat-relevant, near-peer training affordably beyond traditional ranges amid a worldwide military flight training crisis.
- Technically, ATARS overlays realistic, threat-representative scenarios onto the real world, records flight data to build readiness datasets, and builds on Boeing–Red 6 collaboration including the T-7A Red Hawk advanced pilot training system.
- The change reduces airspace and logistical constraints while offering environmental benefits, and the companies say it could make near-peer training safer, more scalable, and affordable for military aviators during Collaborative Combat Aircraft training.
- Daniel Robinson, CEO and Co-founder of Red 6, said the integration marks a milestone as Red 6's first U.S. Army platform partnership, while Kathleen "KJ" Jolivette highlighted Boeing's drive to adopt advanced rotorcraft technologies.

The ATARS system overlays realistic and threat representative scenarios onto the real world. Red 6 said this allows pilots to train against near peer adversaries in contested environments without the cost and risk tied to live exercises. “Exploring the integration of ATARS with the Apache marks a significant milestone – not only as our inaugural collaboration with a rotorcraft platform but also as our first potential partnership with a U.S. Army…
