Austrian rescuers have been unable to lift the wreckage of a small plane that crashed into Lake Attersee on Wednesday, killing a 19-year-old flight student and her 24-year-old instructor. The plane and the bodies lie at the bottom of the lake at a depth of about 160 meters, and rescuers are unable to attach a rope to it with a remote-controlled robot to start lifting it.
The Vöcklabruck district fire commander Wolfgang Hufnagl describes the recovery of the crashed small aircraft from Lake Attersee as a "crushing game shop". A 19-year-old flight student and her 24-year-old flight instructor crashed on Wednesday. So far, the firefighters have not managed to catch the wreck.
The task of storing the wreck at a depth of 160 metres was "demanding," according to the fire department.
