Bookings Nearly Sold Out for Drivers Bound for Vancouver Island Aboard BC Ferries Friday
BC Ferries urged reservations and off-peak travel as vehicle space on key Vancouver Island routes sold out for the long weekend.
Upcoming sailings to Vancouver Island are nearly sold out as travellers prepare for the Labour Day long weekend, with Ferries reporting limited vehicle space across multiple routes.
The last long weekend of the season traditionally triggers significant demand for travel to Vancouver Island, driving high reservation volume for Sept sailings and return trips.
Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay ferries are nearly full, with only the first sailing offering vehicle space; the final voyage to Duke Point is the only departure with remaining vehicles from Tsawwassen.
"Advanced bookings sold out" means the sailing cannot be reserved in advance, though drive-up space may exist for passengers. Ferries suggests planning ahead with the "current conditions" tab on their website.
To navigate the busy Labour Day period, travellers should make reservations, avoid peak times, or travel as walk-on passengers. Non-peak travel remains viable for those seeking less crowded departures.
