A record 274 people climbed Mount Everest in a single day on Wednesday, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions after a late start to the spring season due to a large chunk of glacier blocking the climbing route. Among the climbers was Russian Rustam Nabiyev, a double-leg amputee who reached the summit without the use of prosthetics on Thursday.
Within a single day, 274 mountaineers reached the south side of Mount Everest – setting a new record.
These successful ascents took place along the popular route of the southern slope of the peak in Nepal.
