Rebates, discounts available as PSE rates increase
The utility says the higher bills fund $3.2 billion in infrastructure work, clean energy expansion and customer assistance programs.
On January 1, 2026, Bellevue-based PSE implemented rate increases approved by The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, raising electric bills by roughly 12% and natural gas rates by roughly 7%.
PSE Mary Kipp stated the company is investing over $3.2 billion to improve infrastructure safety, reliability, and compliance with Washington state's clean energy requirements, justifying the rate adjustments.
A three-year rate plan filed by PSE on February 27, 2026, requests further electric service increases of 15.2% in 2027, alongside natural gas service hikes of 14.2%.
To address proposed rate changes, customers can provide feedback during public hearings scheduled for September 29 and October 7, 2026, while accessing the Home Energy Lifeline Program for up to $1,000 in credits.
Securing more than $529 million in expiring federal tax credits remains a priority for PSE to offset new generation project costs, though Washington faces challenges expanding renewable energy compared to other states.
