Rochester Realtor Merl Groteboer accused of making false statements to FBI agent

Merl Groteboer, a commercial real estate agent for RE/MAX Results, was recently charged with one count of making a “false, fictitious and fraudulent” statement in connection to a $35.7 million federal fraud case involving Matthew Onofrio. Onofrio, a Wisconsin real estate agent with ties to Rochester, pleaded guilty in 2023.

A 45-year-old real estate broker identified as Agustín Mariano Storni was convicted of having formed an illegal association aimed at committing scams linked to the sale of land in and around the city of Santa Fe. According to the decision, Storni will have to serve a sentence of three years of effective execution imprisonment and will not be able to practice his profession for 10 years.
