As a lifelong Oregonian who has worked across the state, I believe Initiative Petition 28 takes advantage of national chaos and partisan conflict, along with our collective exhaustion, (“Oregon animal rights initiative aims to ban hunting, fishing, slaughtering of livestock,” Jan. 31). It would further separate Northwesterners by party, ideology and the urban-rural divide.
A petition to ban hunting and ranching in Oregon is approaching the number of signatures needed to be included in this fall’s ballot.
