- Shortly before Prime Minister Mark Carney took power, the Ottawa government sought to rebut Trump's unsupported claims that Canada was a major fentanyl source; Jared Kushner, a senior advisor, reportedly suggested producing a video to demonstrate border security efforts.
- Trudeau's government hired a film crew to capture the helicopters. RCMP asst. commissioner David Teboul stated, "Certainly, it is also about optics," adding it was about preventing criminal activity at the borders.
