RBC Names Former Ontario Cabinet Minister Caroline Mulroney as Vice-Chair
Mulroney will advise RBC business leaders on policy and regulatory changes as the bank expands client connections across capital markets, commercial banking and wealth management.
- Royal Bank of Canada appointed Caroline Mulroney as vice-chair on Wednesday, tasking her with deepening global client relationships. Mulroney will report to RBC capital markets head Derek Neldner starting Sept. 14.
- Mulroney, daughter of the late Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, served in the Ontario Legislature from 2018 until this year. During her eight-year cabinet tenure, she held senior portfolios including attorney general and Treasury Board president.
- Prior to public service, Mulroney worked in law and finance at BloombergSen Investment Partners and Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., while advising on a $200-million venture debt fund. She also managed Ontario's $240-billion budget as Treasury Board president.
- In her role, Mulroney will 'advise our business leaders on the implications of evolving government policy, regulatory, and public sector developments for our clients,' Neldner said. She will connect clients with capital markets and wealth management services.
- The appointment arrives as RBC expands in the United States and Europe amid economic uncertainty. The bank's OCEO group is tasked with bringing 'senior-level strategic perspectives' to clients globally.
