From 50 to 70 Euros: to Combat Fraud, RATP Increases the Price of Its Fines

The Paris transport authority increases the amount of its fare fines, whether in case of immediate or deferred payment.

The fine for fraud will rise to 70 euros in case of immediate payment, 120 euros within 90 days and 180 euros beyond.

Three months after presenting an extensive plan to combat fraud in public transport in France, RATP and Ile-de-France Mobilitys will take action. As of 2 June, the tariff fines will increase sharply.

The fraudsters will have to pay 70 euros, an increase of 20 euros, in the case of an immediate payment. The lack of validation of a pass in buses and trams will be sanctioned to the tune of 15 euros. This hardening aims to "improve the effectiveness of the fight against fraud", said the Régie on Thursday.

An extensive display campaign will be deployed in the metro and RER to warn users.
