Rare two-headed snake born at local wildlife rescue - WCCB Charlotte

Summary by WCCB Charlotte
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – A rescued timber rattlesnake gave birth to a rare two-headed baby at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue on Monday. Timber rattlesnakes themselves are occasionally found in the wooded areas around Charlotte, but a two-headed one is extremely rare. The mutation is known as polycephaly. Unfortunately, it did not survive, but four of its siblings – with one head each – are alive.
