A group of scientists have been able to detect for the first time an earthquake with a characteristic slow slide. The event was captured during the release of tectonic pressure located in the depths of the ocean. The "slow earthquake" was recorded along the section of the failure causing tsunamis, exactly off the coast of Japan, taking the role of a tectonic shock absorber.
