- The comic was stolen from Nicolas Cage's west Los Angeles home in 2000 and recovered in 2011 from a southern California storage locker, then returned to Cage who bought it in 1996 for $150,000.
- Six months after its return, Nicolas Cage sold the comic at auction for $2.2 million, while Stephen Fishler, CEO of Metropolis Collectibles/Comic Connect, said the theft boosted its value.
- Dealers say the record sale highlights the comic's importance in the comic-collecting community and reinforces its status among the most valuable collectibles.
