Cheshire Police Comment on Family and Friends' Concerns over Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Cheshire Police say the explorer is in an appropriate setting with suitable care as friends and relatives press for a welfare investigation.
Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is believed to have returned to his remote Shropshire farmhouse, where he reportedly resides in a modular home secured by a six-foot-high gate, having not been seen publicly in two years.
In recent weeks, concerns mounted regarding his wife, Louise Millington-Cotes, who allegedly isolated the explorer from friends and family while moving him between establishments in London, Cheshire, and Wales under pseudonyms.
Friends and fellow adventurers including Bear Grylls and Joanna Lumley have publicly called for investigation, with Grylls stating: "We have been desperately trying to connect with Ran for a year now, to no avail."
Detective Chief Superintendent Claire Jesson stated police have "no immediate safeguarding concerns," noting Sir Ranulph resides in an "appropriate setting" with "suitable care," while the Office of the Public Guardian refused to investigate.
The explorer's stepson, Alexander Millington-Cotes, is currently fundraising for a legal review to challenge his mother's power of attorney as family members continue seeking reunification with Sir Ranulph.
