Rangers starterNathan Eovaldi Feels Good in Bullpen 2 Days After Tightness that Scratched Start
Eovaldi threw about 25 pitches in a bullpen session and said the left-side tightness felt good after two days off.
Wednesday, Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi completed a high-intensity bullpen session, reporting he felt good after recent left-side tightness forced him to miss a scheduled start.
After feeling minor tightness while playing catch Sunday, Eovaldi consulted team trainers before his planned opening-game start against Arizona.
Manager Skip Schumaker plans to consult the two-time All-Star and medical staff before finalizing the pitcher's next assignment, though Eovaldi expects to return Sunday.
Returning to the lineup Wednesday, Brandon Nimmo, right fielder, played after exiting Tuesday's game with a sprained left ankle; X-rays confirmed negative results.
The Rangers enjoy a day off Thursday before opening a series in Houston, with Schumaker saying, "Hopefully, another bullet dodged with two big-time players for us.
