Danny Rohl Commits to Rangers Amid Wolfsburg Links and Vows to Set New Standards
The German club are weighing a change as Dieter Hecking is set to move upstairs and Rohl remains among several candidates.
Rangers manager Danny Rohl is reportedly on the shortlist to lead Bundesliga strugglers Wolfsburg, with the 37-year-old German coach currently the top candidate for the Volkswagen-backed club.
Following his appointment at Ibrox in Govan last October to replace Russell Martin, Rohl orchestrated an unlikely title challenge that effectively ended this week with a 2-1 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.
The Volkswagen-backed club is considering other managers including St Pauli's Alexander Blessin, Hertha Berlin boss Stefan Leitl, Thomas Reis, and Dino Toppmoller, while current boss Dieter Hecking plans to transition into a football director role.
Questions now surround whether Rohl remains the right man to lead Rangers into next season, though he is expected to remain at the helm for the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
Wolfsburg previously targeted Rohl last summer during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, though that move fell through; now the German side could again attempt to bring him back to his homeland.
