- On Wednesday, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced the Ramazan crescent was sighted, and the month will begin on Thursday .
- Earlier this month, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission predicted February 19 as Ramazan’s start; Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and India sighted the crescent on Tuesday.
- The committee collected testimonies from Quetta, Islamabad, Waziristan, Dir, Karachi, Buner, Mardan and Tando Allahyar and noted skies were clear in some areas and cloudy in others, deciding by consensus that Thursday would be the first day.
- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Rs38 billion Ramazan Relief Package for 12.1 million deserving families across four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with Rs13,000 per family.
