Ram Temple Donation Row: SIT Likely to Submit Preliminary Probe Report to CM Today
The three-member panel found gaps in cash, gold and silver handling and said certain trust workers, bank staff and private firm employees were implicated.
On Sunday, the Special Investigation Team submitted its preliminary report to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, flagging systemic shortcomings in handling cash and valuables at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The Uttar Pradesh government constituted the SIT on June 13 following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, conducting over 60 hours of inquiry and questioning over 150 suspects during the six-day investigation.
Before departing for Lucknow on Sunday, SIT members instructed trust officials not to leave Ayodhya, having reportedly found that the mandated double-lock system for securing cash was not being properly followed.
Opposition parties including the Aam Aadmi Party and Samajwadi Party have intensified criticism, with AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal alleging that "influential individuals" were involved in the embezzlement.
The SIT must submit its comprehensive report within 15 days, though limited CCTV footage available for only 45 days poses an investigative hurdle as forensic analysis attempts to retrieve deleted or altered data.
