Ralph Lauren delivers modern take on romance with sensual silhouettes – WTOP News
At the start of New York Fashion Week, 86-year-old designer Ralph Lauren presented a romantic womenswear collection in Manhattan, with his wife Ricky Lauren sitting front row as his lifelong muse of more than 60 years.
For Lauren, the collection was an "irreverent take on romance" that "upends traditional notions of chic," blending masculine tailoring with feminine silhouettes in a refined navy and white palette.
The designer pared down the lavish setting to a minimalist white space with models emerging from behind white doors, accentuating refined looks with oversized flowered brooches, feathered bolero jackets, and distressed denim.
Celebrity guests including Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, and Ariana DeBose attended the show, where David Lauren, the label's chief branding and innovation officer, said the collection reflects a "modern dream."
As the show concluded to "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by The Police, Lauren waved to guests before his wife Ricky joined him with a kiss, celebrating looks ready for European getaways.
