- Assistant Commissioner of Police Nidhi Saxena stated the eatery lacked an alcohol license, violating the Excise Act, prompting police to invoke Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita for preventive arrest.
- Operators also face a separate case under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for failing to provide required employee information to authorities, compounding legal exposure.
- Meanwhile, the murder trial remains ongoing in Shillong; the Supreme Court cancelled Sonam Raghuvanshi's bail on July 23, 2026, and she surrendered July 28, 2026, to remain in judicial custody.
