'Remarkable' temperatures expected in parts of UK as temperatures set to hit 27C

- Wednesday will bring a sharp shift as a weather front moves west to east; Met Office deputy chief forecaster Steven Keates warned, "many places will see around 10mm of rain, with in excess of 40mm possible in some isolated spots."
- Heading toward the weekend, rainfall will ease and the Met Office expects a "weekend of pleasant weather for many, with some sunshine" after the midweek disruption.
- Looking ahead to October, the Met Office predicts temperatures will remain "warmer than average," though forecasters cautioned, "At this stage, it is simply too early to determine exactly what winter 2026-27 will bring.
