RIO BLANCO COUNTY, COLORADO, AUG 6 – Lightning-caused fires in Rio Blanco County have burned over 30,000 acres with zero containment and more than 290 firefighting personnel deployed, officials said.
- Rio Blanco County saw rapid fire growth as the Elk Fire and Lee Fire prompted evacuation orders along Colorado Highway 13 and county roads.
- Amid hot, dry and windy weather, officials said the fires were caused by lightning and remained 0% contained as of Wednesday morning.
