Quebec hits patient registry target early — though many won't get a dedicated doctor
Quebec has hit its target to register half a million new patients with access to primary care, reaching the milestone more than a month ahead of the deadline laid out in the agreement with family doctors. But opposition critics say questions about access to care remain.
General practitioners speeded up the sending of letters to confirm the registration of 500,000 new Quebecers with family medicine groups
More than 555,000 additional patients, including nearly 221,000 "vulnerable" patients, now have access to a family doctor or a group of doctors. General practitioners exceeded the target set in their agreement with Quebec City a month earlier. But this is not a real care of patients, they denounce the opposition parties.
Under its agreement with Quebec, the FMOQ was expected to reach this number by July 1.
Family physicians are said to have completed the registration of the additional 500,000 patients that Quebec City was asking for, according to our information.
