Quarterback RJ Day, Son of Ohio State Coach Ryan Day, Commits to Northwestern in 2027
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound passer chose the Wildcats over several other offers and becomes David Braun’s fifth commitment in the 2027 class.
On Sunday, class of 2027 quarterback R.J. Day announced his commitment to Northwestern University, choosing the Wildcats from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus.
Northwestern offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who coached Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day at New Hampshire, created the mentorship connection that drew the younger Day to Evanston.
Entering his senior season, the St. Francis DeSales signal-caller holds 5,714 career passing yards and 54 touchdowns while fielding 18 college scholarship offers.
By selecting the Wildcats over Purdue and South Florida, Day avoided Ohio State's crowded quarterback room, where the Buckeyes secured a commitment from Brady Edmunds.
His commitment positions him as a future Big Ten Conference rival to his father, with the quarterback determined to build his own path independent of Ohio State.
