Qatar Resumes Flights for Foreign Airlines After Weeks of Disruption
Only select foreign carriers will resume initially as authorities complete safety checks and work through passenger rebooking backlogs.
- On Monday, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that foreign carriers will gradually restart services to and from Hamad International Airport, marking the first reconnection with global air networks after regional disruptions.
- Escalations during the Iran war triggered airspace closures across the region, forcing international airlines to halt services to Doha. Previously, only Qatar Airways operated "limited relief corridor" flights for essential travel.
- Operations follow a "comprehensive assessment of the situation" to meet internationally recognised safety standards. Last year, Hamad International Airport recorded 282,975 aircraft take-offs and landings while handling 54.3 million passengers.
- Passengers should check directly with airlines for updates, as the reopening is phased with only select carriers resuming initially. Carriers prioritise rebooking those affected by earlier cancellations.
- Separately, Qatar Airways is expanding its international network to more than 150 destinations starting June 16, while Bahrain International Airport began a gradual resumption of its own flights earlier this month.
