Vladimir Putin Meets North Korea’s Leader Kim Jong Un in Beijing
Putin and Kim discussed North Korea's military support to Russia, including deployment of about 15,000 troops and equipment amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, officials said.

- Pyongyang has provided about 15,000 troops and large quantities of ballistic missiles and artillery to support Moscow since last year.
- In televised remarks, Vladimir Putin said, `On your initiative, as is well known, your special forces took part in the liberation of the Kursk region`, and Kim Jong Un responded, `If there is anything we can do to help Russia, then we will definitely do it.`
- Officials reported casualties and follow-up plans, with Pyongyang confirming troop deployment in April and some deaths, while South Korean intelligence estimates around 2,000 killed.
- The Beijing celebrations marked the first time Kim Jong Un attended a major multilateral event and saw Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping gather at the 80th anniversary parade in Beijing with more than two dozen heads of state.
