Punjab Police ASI Shot Dead by 2 Unidentified Assailants in Amritsar

  • On Sunday, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead Punjab Police ASI Joga Singh near Hamja village in Amritsar. The officer was in uniform and riding his scooter to duty when attacked on the Fatehgarh Churian-Majithia road.
  • Singh, a resident of Ganike Bangarh village, was commuting to work when the assailants intercepted him on his scooter. The attackers fled the spot immediately after the shooting.
  • A team led by the Station House Officer of Majithia police station arrived shortly after receiving information about the incident. Authorities subsequently transported the deceased to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
  • Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Suhail Mir Qasim visited the scene as a forensic team examined evidence. "We are exploring all angles, including personal enmity, road rage, or any other possible angle," the SSP said.
  • Police are currently reviewing CCTV camera footage from nearby areas to identify the assailants and determine motive. Further investigation into the circumstances of the officer's death remains underway.
