- Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment filed a Rs 400 crore lawsuit in the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries Limited and filmmaker David Dhawan over unauthorized use of songs from the 1999 film Biwi No. 1.
- At the center of the dispute, Bhagnani contends that while he sold audio rights to Tips Music, he retained video rights for tracks like 'Chunari Chunari' and 'Ishq Sona Hai' now appearing in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
- Seeking an immediate injunction, Pooja Entertainment demanded removal of the disputed songs and a title change for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, while filing for an additional Rs 100 crore in damages if defendants fail to comply.
- Regarding the allegations, Tips Music maintains they are the "absolute and lawful owners" of the contested songs, with representatives stating the matter is currently sub judice and declining further comment.
- Following their 2020 collaboration on Coolie No. 1, the partnership between the parties dates to 1995, as the new film starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde remains scheduled for theatrical release on June 5.
