Publix Removing 10-Item Limit From Express Checkout Lanes
Publix said the change will give shoppers another checkout option and help reduce wait times as it rolls out to nearly 1,500 stores.
Following testing in Miami, Publix is removing the 10-item limit from its express lanes and rolling out the policy companywide to give shoppers more checkout flexibility.
The supermarket chain aims to improve the shopping experience and reduce wait times for customers, providing shoppers with additional options when checking out.
Publix operates nearly 1,500 stores across the Southern United States, and customers with more than 10 items will no longer be restricted from using express lanes.
Self-Checkout lanes will remain available for shoppers making smaller purchases, while Publix ranked as the number 2 grocery chain in 2026 according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, behind Trader Joe.
Already underway at many stores, the updated checkout process will soon expand to all Publix locations as the company streamlines its operations nationwide.
