PSV kicked off the cup tournament with an easy home victory over GVVV. Early goals from Guus Til and Paul Wanner looked set to lead the match in Eindhoven, but the eighth-placed team in the second division limited the damage to 3-0.
PSV won 3-0 against GVVV in the KNVB Cup on Wednesday evening, but the Eindhoven side did not make it a carefree evening.
Goalkeeper Nick Olij was injured just before his official debut for PSV. The goalkeeper, who arrived from Sparta Rotterdam last summer, was absent during the warm-up for the cup match against GVVV.
