Province Names SkyTrain Extension in Honour of Former Premier Dave Barrett
The 16-kilometre, $6 billion project has eight stations and is scheduled to open in late 2029, officials said.

- Barrett served as British Columbia's premier from 1972 to 1975, and Premier David Eby noted his government previously expanded transit in Surrey, Delta, White Rock, and Langley during the mid-1970s.
- Construction on the $6 billion project remains on schedule with guideway installation now more than 60% complete, while travel time from Langley City Centre to King George Station will be just over 20 minutes.
- Transit improvements include 14 kilometres of active transportation paths, while Minister of Transportation and Transit Mike Farnworth noted the line connects people with jobs, housing, and education across Metro Vancouver.
- Shirley, Dave Barrett's wife, said he "would have been honoured" to have his name associated with the train serving future generations, carrying forward his vision of government as a force for good.
