Province, Kwantlen First Nation announce affordable housing for Mission
- On May 21, the Province and Kwantlen First Nation announced a partnership to develop 65 affordable homes in Mission on Kwantlen land at 10221 Wilson St.
- This project resulted from the province’s commitment of $19 million through BC Housing's Indigenous Housing Fund and Kwantlen’s contribution of $3.6 million worth of land.
- The housing will include 12 one-bedroom, 32 two-bedroom, and 18 three-bedroom units, feature family-oriented spaces, and be located on a natural forested hillside overlooking the Stave River.
- Minister Ravi Kahlon highlighted that this initiative exemplifies ongoing efforts to support individuals in creating a more secure and prosperous future for themselves and their families within the communities they cherish.
- The building will be owned and managed by the Kwantlen First Nation Affordable Housing Society, with the goal of offering homes that are culturally secure and supportive, thereby improving Indigenous housing options in the area.
