The province of South Holland is forcing the municipality of Ridderkerk to continue sharing rental properties on a regional basis. Ridderkerk no longer wants to cooperate with eleven surrounding municipalities, but instead wants to set up its own distribution system so that houses in Ridderkerk go primarily to its own residents. According to the province, there is "a compelling public interest" to intervene.
