Union hails deal that will see nursing home workers reach wage parity

The union representing about 4,500 nursing home workers in New Brunswick says it has signed a historic contract that will eventually put their wages on par with that of similarly skilled health-care workers, one of its key demands.

The majority coalition has now decided that the new nursing home will be built in Tjødnalio.

The ELA union has called for six days of strikes by workers in nursing homes in Gipuzkoa, arguing that the employer is "blocking" negotiations for a new agreement. They have organized a strike for 5,000 workers "to confront the precarious working conditions" for June 11, 12 and 13, and July 9, 10 and 11.
