The Federal Council is expected to continue the protection status S for refugees from Ukraine beyond March 2027. At the same time, it will examine whether Ukrainian men subject to the military will be excluded from this status in the future.
Refugees from Ukraine with protection status S should be able to remain in Switzerland after March 2027. At the same time, the state government is considering a drastic change: Conscript men could soon be excluded from the status.
Because there is no prospect of an end to the war in Ukraine, the Federal Council wants to continue the protection status S for Ukrainians in 2027.
