Assisted suicides have reached a record high in Switzerland, with a total of 1,729 residents of Switzerland ending their lives by this means in 2023, 59.92% of whom are women. The National Councilors propose a veto on the Act on Assisted Voluntary Ending of Life and the Act on Cannabis for Medical and Scientific Purposes. Both acts were approved by the National Assembly last week, and the National Assembly will decide on the postponement veto at an extraordinary session on Tuesday.
