The cancellation of the film "Barbie" "in Noisy-le-Sec" is only the last episode of a long list of attacks against creative freedom everywhere in France. Faced with threats, some elected officials are forced to bow.
The release of the film "Barbie" was prevented in Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis) this summer, by a small group of fundamentalists who saw there "an apology of homosexuality and an attack on the integrity of the woman." An attempt at cultural clout not really new, according to Thibault Tellier, professor of universities at Science Po Rennes, to relate to the relationship that so-called "sensitive" neighbourhoods have with culture.
