Priyank Kharge, Haris Nalapad appear in RSS defamation case, granted conditional bail by Bengaluru court
The court set a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh each after finding the alleged defamation charge against the two Congress leaders bailable.
- On Saturday, the 42nd Special Court in Bengaluru granted bail to Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge and Congress leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad in a criminal defamation case filed by RSS worker A Tejas.
- According to the complaint, Kharge allegedly posted a tweet against RSS members on October 14, 2025, while Nalapad made derogatory remarks on YouTube, portraying the organization in a negative light.
- Bail conditions required both to execute a personal bond of Rs one lakh and provide cash security of Rs 10,000 each, as the court found the offense under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita is bailable.
- Both leaders denied the allegations and sought trial, prompting the court to schedule the complainant's evidence hearing for September 19.
- Kharge previously stated he was neither shaken nor surprised, adding: "It is time to build a society founded on the principles of Buddha, Basavanna and Babasaheb.
