Prisoner Escapes Escort Custody at Seattle Airport
The prisoner fled from Department of Corrections officers near the SeaTac light rail station, triggering a search; this marks the second escape from custody at the airport, officials said.
- On Tuesday evening, John Nino, 20, escaped custody from two DOC officers on the fourth floor of Sea-Tac's parking garage shortly before 8 p.m. PDT, authorities said.
- Under DOC supervision, Nino was being returned from New Mexico when he escaped, authorities said.
- After fleeing custody, he ran to the light rail station, crossed the pedestrian bridge, and headed toward International Boulevard, last seen wearing a red coat and gray sweatpants.
- Despite extensive search efforts by DOC and POSPD, authorities said he remains at large, urging anyone spotting Nino to call 911 and not approach.
- This incident marks at least the third escape at Sea-Tac this year, following Sedric Stevenson’s May 4 flight and Gerson Enrique Castaneda’s July 15 alleged escape, authorities said.
