Prince William leaves Andrew scandal behind for trip to Brazil
The Earthshot Prize awards highlight climate innovation with finalists raising $500 million and protecting over 1 million hectares of land and sea, Prince William said.
- On Nov. 5, Prince William will bring the Earthshot Prize awards to Rio de Janeiro's Museum of Tomorrow, celebrating 15 finalists and awarding five prizes worth $1.3 million each.
 - Prince William created the Earthshot Prize to speed solutions, framing the effort as driven by `urgent optimism` while the initiative is halfway through the Earthshot decade of action.
 - Finalists have already secured over $500m in funding and protected over 1 million hectares of land and sea, matching the size of Italy, France, and Greece combined.
 - William will tour biodiversity sites and meet indigenous people and conservationists around Rio, join a United for Wildlife summit, and represent King Charles at the UN climate conference in Belém on Nov. 6.
 - The trip marks Prince William, the Prince of Wales's first official visit to Latin America, with Brazil hosting half of the Amazon rainforest and Jason Knauf, CEO of the Earthshot Prize calling it the `perfect place` for the biggest Earthshot ever.
