President Trump says he will nominate Todd Blanche to serve as attorney general
Trump says Blanche will lead the Justice Department permanently after a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund sparked bipartisan backlash.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump indicated he will nominate Attorney General Todd Blanche permanently, stating in an interview that Blanche is "doing a very good job at DOJ."
Blanche has served as acting attorney general since April, when Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi and elevated him from deputy attorney general.
Under Blanche, the DOJ has pursued indictments against the Southern Poverty Law Center and Cuban President Raul Castro, alongside a second case against FBI Director James Comey.
After approving a $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund tied to a $10 billion IRS settlement, Blanche confirmed Tuesday that the DOJ would "not be moving forward" with the initiative.
During an interview with The New York Post's Pod Force One, Trump dismissed speculation regarding Ron DeSantis, stating his confidence in Blanche has grown since the initial appointment.
