- Before becoming a full-time actor, Hassan trained as an automobile mechanic for about 13 years. His career subsequently spanned more than four decades, during which he became a recognizable face of Yoruba-language cinema.
- Notable roles included the film trilogy Owo Blow, Omo Ghetto, and Kunle Afolayan's Anikulapo. His portrayal of the Alaafin in Anikulapo earned him a 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
- Following his death, the actor was laid to rest on Monday in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites. His family had publicly sought medical specialists to treat his stage-four cancer before his passing.
- "Alhaji Taiwo Hassan was a gifted artist who used his talent to tell Nigerian stories," President Tinubu said. He urged Nigerians to honour the late actor by preserving the artistic traditions he dedicated his life to.
