- On Wednesday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reconstituted the 18-member Central Board of Film Certification , appointing actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Suniel Shetty for a three-year term.
- The CBFC was last reconstituted in August 2017 for a three-year term, with members continuing beyond 2020 under provisions allowing them to remain in office until The Government appointed successors.
- Theatre director Waman Kendre and writer Ramesh Patange are the only two members retained from the previous board, while newcomers include Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej, filmmaker Priyadarshan, and actor Roopali Ganguly.
- Headed by chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati, the statutory body is responsible for certifying films for public exhibition in India, a mandatory process for all movies intended for public viewing.
- Recent board discussions in August raised questions regarding the composition of Revising Committees involved in film reviews, marking the first such gathering in six years.
