Pratikno Visits Palace as Prabowo Names Advisory Board
The 26-member body includes business leaders, retired generals and religious figures, and Pratikno is tipped to chair it.
On Friday, October 2, 2026, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated his first Presidential Advisory Council at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, appointing 26 members including billionaires, retired generals, and religious leaders.
The appointments arrived well after a statutory deadline requiring the board be filled within three months; legislation enacted before Prabowo took office removed the previous nine-member cap, enabling the expanded council.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno will chair the council, which includes billionaires Chairul Tanjung and Tahir, retired general Agum Gumelar, and former Constitutional Court chief justice Anwar Usman, alongside Islamic, Christian, Buddhist, and Confucian leaders.
Members are tasked with advising the president on executive power, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution. Pratikno stressed that "Any assignment carried out in the interest of the state and the public must be executed to the best of our ability."
Coming just a day after Prabowo swore in more than a dozen new officials on Thursday, including a new national police chief and foreign minister, these appointments extend a broader shake-up of his administration.
Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), inaugurated Rocky Gerung and Sinta Nuriyah as members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (2/10/2026).
