Starz Greenlights Prequel Series 'Power: Origins'
NEW YORK CITY, JUL 22 – Starz greenlit an 18-episode prequel focusing on young Ghost and Tommy's rise as entrepreneurs, with MeKai Curtis reprising his role as Kanan Stark from Raising Kanan.
- Starz has approved a new 18-episode prequel titled Power: Origins, which will explore the early lives of young Ghost and Tommy as they strive to establish themselves in New York City's underworld.
- This series was developed due to long-standing fan demand for Ghost and Tommy’s backstories, which began with the original Power show.
- Sascha Penn, creator of Raising Kanan, will showrun, write, and executive produce Origins, while MeKai Curtis returns as Kanan Stark.
- Kathryn Busby, Starz President of Original Programming, said, “we’re delivering in a big way” and called this an electrifying new chapter for the franchise.
- The series aims to answer long-held questions about these iconic characters and continues the evolving legacy of the Power Universe.
